Compassionate End-of-Life Doula Support
Comprehensive, non-medical support to help you plan, prepare, communicate and find peace — before, during, and after end of life.
Guided presence, clarity, and heartfelt support for you and your loved ones.
What Is End-of-Life Doula Support?
An end-of-life doula (EOLD) is a non-clinical, compassionate companion who provides guided presence, clarity, and heartfelt support for you and your loved ones in matters related to death, legacy and planning. They can be of assistance to those facing serious illness, decline, or the process of dying; yet, they can also support people to proactively plan before older age or illness.
Death doulas work alongside but not in place of hospice, palliative care teams, estate and legacy support, and families. Advocates for the dying and their loved ones, EOLDs create the infrastructure and plans to ensure end-of-life and what happens after remain rooted in one's values and wishes.
At Center for the Heart, all of our doulas receive additional training on grief as a natural and vital part of the human experience. They assist those before and after a death to understand, express and move through their grief in ways that bring closure and support long-term health.

Planning + Crisis Support
Some people seek doula support as part of proactive planning — creating comfort care plans, ethical wills, and legacy projects while fully capable and living well. Others call on doulas during high-need seasons of rapid change, advanced illness, after life-altering diagnosis (like Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias) or emotional crisis. In both contexts, end-of-life doulas offer continuity, helping individuals clarify choices, communicate wishes, and reduce distress for family members.

"Our doula freed me from the obligations of being the primary caregiver. They would sit with my loved one, hold their hand, and truly be present. They were also available for me and my entire family to talk about our grief. We were not alone during this process. I was able to spend quality time with my mother in a way that I hadn’t in years. While the time in hospice was filled with tremendous grief and fear, it was also one of the most peaceful and healing experiences of our entire time together. This quality time was in no small part due to the support we received from our doula."
